You must be at least 18 years old to continue.
This is an NSFW project containing problematic and unproblematic content. If you are not at least 18 years of age, or can not stomach sharing a space with dead dove content creators, then this is not the project for you.
MONSTER MASH!
The MONSTER MASH! is a passion project that stems from the desire for self-expression.In recent years, all sorts of content creators have been pushed back and silenced under the guise of morality. Fandom spaces have become toxic and have left deep scars in the hearts of many, causing them to self-censor out of fear of being persecuted for perceived slights. And Indie spaces force content creators to bend over backwards for a market that dominates and dictates their every thought. This wave of puritanism is, in my opinion, harmful for everyone involved but especially victims with stories to tell. It's my hope that this project will provide problematic and unproblematic content creators with a safe space to create without boundaries. With respect, dignity, and integrity.Status: Completed...

Question: Who can apply as a contributor?
Answer: Anyone and everyone who is at least 18 years of age, and understands that fiction is not indicative of your moral compass. Are you a writer/artist who likes to draw sweet monsters loving on their human? This zine is for you. Do you have a penchant for shape-shifting beasts who lure children into the forest on stormy nights? This zine is for you. Have you been a victim, or witnessed, of a harassment campaign over fictional content? This is the zine for you. Would you like an opportunity to show those who've suffered in the name of artistic freedom some love? Then, this is the zine for you.
Question: What kind of content will be featured in the zine?
Answer: EVERYTHING. SFW. NSFW. Problematic. Unproblematic. If it's legal under California law, and a contributor presents me with it, I will feature it with pride. This includes, but is not limited to: lolisho/fictional underaged content, necrophilia, noncon/dubcon, incest, bestiality, gore/vore, and everything in between. If it's fictional, legal and is not blatant hate speech (our one and only exception), then it can be featured in my zine.
Question: Um, you actually know that all CP is illegal, right?
Answer: Yes. We do. CSAM will not be allowed in the zine. This being said, the Department of Justice of the United States of America defines CSAM as: photographs, videos, digital or computer generated images indistinguishable from an actual minor, and images created, adapted, or modified, but appear to depict an identifiable, actual minor. If this truth makes you uncomfortable, upsets you, or disagrees with your own country's censorship laws, you're more than welcome to find another event that'll cater to your sensitivities.
Question: How do you plan on protecting your readers from content that might trigger them?
Answer: The table of contents will offer a list of all possible content warnings applicable to each piece. The rest will fall onto the reader to avoid whatever content might make them uncomfortable.
Question: Will this be a for-profit project?
Answer: No. The MONSTER MASH! is an entirely non-profit, low-risk project. Moderators and contributors will not receive monetary compensation for their work.
Question: Will AI art be allowed?
Answer: No. The MONSTER MASH! will never feature AI generated content. It will, however, feature a wide array of talented artists and authors.
Question: Is this a queer-exclusive event?
Answer: While the entire moderation team is queer, we invite everyone, and every story, without shame or prejudice to participate in this event. Queer or cishet.
Question: What if I apply as a contributor and would like to profit from my own work?
Answer: Contributors will retain full ownership/copyrights over their own work. You will be free to profit and monetize your piece however you wish at any point after the zine's official release (October 31st, 2023).
Question: What if I want to apply as an artist AND a writer?
Answer: As we currently have no concrete plans on the number of contributors we plan to feature, you can very well apply as both an artist and a writer. However, please keep in mind that, we might ask you to focus on one or the other, should we receive an overwhelming number of applications.
Question: Will you allow fan content or original content?
Answer: Both! Although we will prioritize original content, we also understand that some stories are just too important to go ignored. And so, if you've got a fan headcanon you think the world needs to know of, then by all means! Bring it on!
Question: Will you be accepting NSFW or SFW submissions?
Answer: We'll be favouring NSFW content, but as previously stated, some stories are very important to our contributors. If this story you have is important to you, then it likely is important to someone else, and we encourage you to share them all with us. Even if it's SFW.
Question: I'm not a problematic content creator. Can I still apply?
Answer: You absolutely can! Please do!
Question: I'm a very problematic content creator. Can I still apply?
Answer: You absolutely can! Please do!
Question: I don't do monsters well. Can I just write two humans?
Answer: Unfortunately, this event is dedicated to monster-fucking, and monster fanatics. We accept Monster/Monster, Monster/Human, and Monster/Other pairings only. But you're welcome to stick around until and download your copy of the zine once it's finished!
Question: Why are you organizing this?
Answer: Because I can and I wanted to. I have a great number of friends (both in indie spaces and in fandom spaces) who often talk about participating in events such as these but are too afraid to do so. They worry about being outed, about being targeted by association, and even about not being "problematic" enough. There are many vanilla events, many of which will lynch contributors found to have a history with problematic content, and there are many dead dove events which essentially push out unproblematic content creators. It creates a rift between these two groups and allows for puritans to sweep in and push for censorship. I wanted a project that promotes both problematic and unproblematic content creators on equal grounds, but there are none. So I came up with the MONSTER MASH!
Question: Why are you allowing contributors to apply entirely anonymously?
Answer: There are many reasons why certain content creators might ask for full and complete anonymity. They might've been victims of severe harassment and doxxing, and would like to protect other contributors from being targeted. They might not fully trust one or more moderators, or might worry about coming into contact with people they do not get along with. Or they might be creators who live off of their work, but would see their livelihood affected should their name be associated with such a project. Whatever the reason, it is not up to me to force them into outing themselves. I believe that trust is built, and I am willing to reach out to these people who may need a little more assurance. It's my hope that this might help them build their confidence into becoming more active and vocal supporters of content creators.
Question: Will vampires be allowed?
Answer: Yes. Vampires and humanoid monsters, such as ghosts, zombies, aliens, angels, demons, and many more will be allowed. The only condition is that shape-shifters should, at some point and at all times in NSFW scenarios, shape-shift into their monstrous form.
The MonsterMASH! 2023 Halloween edition will be available for download indefinitely. It contains over 200 pages of content from almost 30 different content creators. You can find the free download HERE.
